Online videos have become a valuable resource for learning how to perform particular functions in the leading audio software programs. Beat grids will allow you to use Traktor’s SYNC function to create seamless DJ mixes that are always perfectly in time. Unfortunately, with the good, comes some bad. Here are the best How To Beatgrid in Native Instruments Traktor Pro 2 that we’ve found to date.
The beginning of the video below is great for setting up your preferences in one shot, but quickly falls off…so you may want to jump to the next one (DJ Endo), once you’ve set things up properly.

Native Instruments Product Specialist DJ Endo’s Tutorial is very concise and informative. He turns off Traktor’s Auto Beat Grid function in the Preferences from the get go, a different approach than others. He does this so he can precisely specify the exact starting transient, ensuring that the beat grid is to his exact specifications. We endorse this approach.

Ean Golden of DJ Tech Tools sets his grid on the snare and not the kick, a different approach that may work in some circumstances. This video is a little “rougher” in terms of production value, but Golden has lots of excellent tips.

Sometimes a track produced with a live drummer won’t beat grid at all in Traktor. Once again, DJ Endo comes to the rescue with this excellent tutorial. As a Traktor specialist, one of the most popular questions Endo been receiving is “How can I beatgrid tracks that are recorded with a live drummer?” or “How can I beatgrid my classic disco records or fluctuating vinyl rips in Traktor?” Unfortunately the answer is as of now, it’s very difficult and almost impossible to beatgrid these tracks only using Traktor. However, while doing a Traktor training with David Morales, I found a way to get these tracks perfectly quantized to a click track using Ableton Live 8′s warping engine, so you can bring the tracks back into Traktor and beatgrid them perfectly. Here is a step by step method on how to do it.
